Art History

The main aim of the group is to see and appreciate art – painting, sculpture and architecture, first-hand. Visits are organized about every two months, usually on Saturdays, to meet together, travel and view selected art forms.

In the last two years the group has visited Fountains Abbey, Ripon Cathedral and the Venice Print Exhibition at the Ashmolean Museum. A group tour of the newly-opened European Gallery took place in January 2016. Two groups of sixteen members and guests visited Venice in May and again in September.

There is no requirement to be an ‘expert’ in the subject or a younger or older member. Everyone is welcome to join in and enjoy the breadth of knowledge and experience each person brings to the group. Please write to me via email for further details.
